NGOs have rebranded the country to reflect the truth about gender-based violence in SA


To commemorate 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, NGOs have asked South Africans to get rid of their passports to RSA – the Republic of Sexual Abuse, that is.

The 16 Days initiative is a UN campaign that takes place annually from November 25 (International Day of No Violence against Women) to December 10 (International Human Rights Day).

Tired of the annual campaigns that do little to prevent the abuse that sees a woman killed every four hours and a further 114 women raped every day in SA, the People Opposed to Women Abuse (POWA) collaborated with Johannesburg advertising agency Black River FC to reveal the true face of the country – and it’s not pretty...
