‘Fraudster’ couple stuck in jail as relatives abandon them

The Lingwoods have been unable to apply for bail for three weeks because nobody is willing to offer them a home


Colleen and Andrew Lingwood, accused of defrauding dozens of people in a series of fraud schemes, have still not been able to apply for bail, after it was announced in court that none of their family members were willing or able to assist them.

The couple were arrested this month following a series of cases opened at the Sandton police station, in which they were accused of running a fraudulent timeshare company as well as a property rental scheme that allegedly stole millions from more than 140 complainants.

Beyond this, both Lingwoods were accused of soliciting donations from friends and acquaintances after Colleen claimed she had listeriosis that was leading to organ failure...
