Cops open hearts to teen kicked out of home over underwear

Durban officers moved to act by a helpless, desperate KZN youngster and her poverty-stricken grandmother

When 13- year-old Olwethu Mzulwini was brought into a Durban police station, displaced and disowned, Capt Bhekumuzi Ndlovu rallied his co-workers to go above and beyond the call of duty.

Ndlovu, who has three daughters, and about 30 police officers dug into their pockets and delivered groceries and clothes to Olwethu and her poverty-stricken grandmother in Umbumbulu, southern KwaZulu-Natal.

According to the teen, she and her mother quarreled over underwear. The fight ended badly, with the girl being given her birth certificate and ordered to leave the house...
