Growing up in the Mpumalanga town of Evander and later Welkom, Free State, where her father worked as a geologist in the mines, little Theresa Wulff used to dress up her dolls in nurses’ clothes.

“I would go on for hours playing nurse with the dolls. As I grew older my passion for nursing also grew,” she said.

Even her father’s initial doubts about her career of choice wouldn’t deter her from enrolling as a trainee nurse in Addington Hospital in Durban...
