Protector threatened me on Zuma taxes: Sars boss

Kieswetter says Mkhwebane’s demand for ex-president’s tax case was unlawful, so he was forced to take her to court

SA Revenue Service commissioner Edward Kieswetter says he was forced to take Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane to court over former president Jacob Zuma’s tax information because she threatened him.

According to court papers, Mkhwebane threatened to institute criminal charges and contempt of court proceedings against Kieswetter.

“Her threat is prima facie unlawful and it threatens Sars’s stability and undermines effective revenue collection in the national interest,” Kieswetter says in court documents...
