Hardened police divers were stumped after they launched a daring sea rescue operation for what turned out to prosthetic arm.

Divers from the Search and Rescue Unit rushed to the quayside at Maydon Wharf in the Durban harbour on Monday, after horrified dock workers reported body parts floating in the water.

Stevedores told officers they had seen a severed arm floating amid the flotsam, which a howling southeasterly wind had blown between the dockside and a cargo vessel that had berthed in port.  ..
