Zuma ill? Zondo ‘very concerned’ there’s no proof

As former president thanks SA for well wishes, the state capture commission says he’s given no evidence of illness

Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo and his state capture commission say former president Jacob Zuma’s lawyers have not provided them with “any evidence of his ill-health”.

Zuma has said he will be unable to testify this week because he is unwell.

While stating that Zondo did not “at this stage” consider it necessary to request a doctor’s certificate from Zuma, the inquiry said he and its legal team were “very concerned” that the former president had yet to provide his written response to the witness evidence it asked him to address more than three months ago...
