Captain, coach and welcoming crowd at OR Tambo all determined to keep the unified World Cup spirit alive


A visibly tired but jubilant Springbok captain Siyamthanda Kolisi and his coach Rassie Erasmus received rock star welcomes at the airport on Tuesday evening, walking into thousands of hysterical fans bellowing out the national anthem.

Kolisi firmly held on to the Web Ellis Cup, often holding it above his head as he soaked up the energy of the crowd at OR Tambo International airport in Johannesburg after arriving back in South Africa from Japan.

The 28-year-old Kolisi – the first black Springbok captain to lift the trophy – told a media conference that South Africa’s World Cup triumph was more than just about lifting the trophy....
