Corne Spang is now using his hobby to understand how pollution spreads in the ocean

When Romy Wenzel discovered a message in a bottle that washed up along the shoreline of Winkelspruit, south of Durban, she did not expect to unfold a note from a nine-year-old boy on an environmental mission.

The message in the bottle is not the first Corne Spang has sent off to parts unknown.

The Pretoria boy has dropped 18 similar bottles since he was four years old...
