Give the harshest sentence, but find Lee’s body, say toddler’s family

In a rare case, the suspect has been found guilty of murder even though a body has not been found

The convicted murderer of three-year-old Lee Mentoor will be sentenced in court on Friday, but the toddler’s family say they will only see justice once the little boy’s body has been found.

Onke Mashinini, who had the Roodepoort boy under his care when he went missing in March last year, will be sentenced at the High Court in Johannesburg on Friday morning.

In September, the court found him guilty of premeditated murder and defeating the ends of justice in relation to the disappearance of the little boy despite the boy’s body not having been found. ..
