Whinnying ways: love gallops in to save abandoned horse
Zulu, a stallion abandoned on the brink of death, has love to thank for his newfound will to live
They say love conquers all, and for a horse named Zulu – malnourished to the brink of death and dumped at the roadside – it was a rendezvous with a mare named Amber that made the difference between life and death.
In June, the stallion was found by a Bronkhorstspruit farmer who witnessed a man and woman dragging the prostrate animal from a horse trailer and driving away, leaving him to die in the veld.
He was rescued by a shelter who enlisted the help of a vet and a team of carers to nurse him back to health...
