Pay attention: you don’t have to be old to have a stroke

Stroke survivors, some as young as 17, have joined the Angels Initiative to educate SA children about the condition

Teenager Faure Louw believed a stroke could only affect an older person until he experienced one at the age of 15.

Two years after his life-threatening experience, Louw has signed up to be part of the Angels Initiative’s Fast Heroes 112 team to educate children throughout SA how to identify the signs of a stroke.

The Angels Initiative’s awareness campaigns and training activities are supported by medical company Boehringer Ingelheim, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, stroke support groups, regional health departments and other role players...
