‘Uber gang’ thought cop would save them. They were in for a massive shock

A confession by one of the alleged Uber gang members reveals how the group believed a police “contact” would make the case go away, but the “contact” arrested them instead.
Treasure Bonga Skosana, Elias Mankgane, Daniel Maswikaneng and Themba Mkuwanazi have all been charged with four 2016 kidnapping incidents, in which Mankgane would allegedly use his Uber driver status to pick up women and, in one incident, a couple. His accomplices would usually be hiding in the back seat or boot of the car, where they would rob, rape and sometimes try to kill their targets.
In his confession, Skosana denies being part of the kidnapping of the couple, saying they were taken to his home while he was sleeping. His version of events is very different from the couple’s testimony before court, in which the husband recounted the horror of having his wife raped as he lay on the bed next to her. ..
