A 23-month-old boy was present when his mother was stabbed to death and his father injured in the Hluleka Nature Reserve, near Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.

The KwaZulu-Natal family had booked into a chalet in the reserve on Monday ahead of a wedding in the province. They were expected to check out on Thursday.
