Bongani Makamu recalls the trauma of simply trying to open a case with the SAPS


Hijacking victim Bongani Makamu was turned away from the police station at least three times, and when his car was eventually recovered, the police managed to lose it again.

His tale of being sent from pillar to post is one of many, but police say South Africans have no idea how underresourced and overextended they are.
