A fugitive wanted in the UK for growing dagga has smoked out a fatal flaw in SA’s drug laws.
In doing so, Cape Town businessman Jason Smit has curtailed justice minister Ronald Lamola’s powers to decide which drugs are illegal.
British police say Smit has been on the run since skipping bail 11 years ago, and they have been trying to extradite him since 2015 on charges related to cannabis found at three properties. Smit denies he is on the run...
