The man who is taking Hot 91.9fm to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission (BCCSA) has said the station’s repeated attempts to downplay its use of the word “m*ffie” on air as a joke is “adding insult to injury”.
Earlier this month, the Sunday Times reported how a controversial comedy skit on Jeremy Mansfield’s morning show led to a series of complaints at the BCCSA, with gay rights groups claiming that station is advocating the use of the homophobic slur, “m*ffie”.
The station has defended using the word, saying it was just a joke and arguing that because gay people have used it, they have not breached any ethical practices...
