UPDATE: There has been a development in this story since its publication at 5am. Amy’Leigh de Jager was found in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Police spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo said in a statement released just before 6am: "Amy was found this morning and she is undergoing a medical examination at a local hospital. The investigation into her disappearance and sudden reappearance is still ongoing." Her aunt, Louise Horn, told TimesLIVE that she was not harmed.

While the parents of snatched Vanderbijlpark schoolgirl Amy’Leigh de Jager pray for her safe return, detectives and hostage negotiators are expected to put her family and those around them under the microscope.

Her abductors, a gang of balaclava-clad men, have put in a chilling ransom call to her parents, demanding R2m to have their child returned safely...
