Limping Prasa vows ‘radical’ change to lure back train passengers

The agency admits it has done a 'great injustice' to commuters, as it unveils a turnaround strategy

South Africans have ditched commuter trains in droves over the past nine years due to their unreliability.

According to the Passenger Railway Agency of SA (Prasa), passenger trips have fallen by more than half – from 634 million per annum in the 2009/10 financial year to 208 million trips a year to date.
