More than 6,000 sweet wrappers, 5,400 straws, 4,200 plastic cooldrink lids, plastic bottles and chip packets were picked up on just four of Cape Town’s beaches during a plastics-free campaign in July to raise awareness about the careless use of plastics.

Plastic litter does massive harm to marine life that ingests it, and pollutes oceans worldwide.
