Public protector isn’t being rational, says Cyril

In court papers, president lashes Mkhwebane for 'personalising' her attack on him

President Cyril Ramaphosa has taken a dig at public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane, saying in court papers that she has taken a stance that public enterprises minister Pravin Gordhan must be disciplined immediately “whether or not such a decision is appropriate or rational”.

Ramaphosa told the North Gauteng High Court that he does not regard Mkhwebane as an adversary but has strongly rejected the “personalised” attacks by her that he was protecting his friend, Gordhan.

The president filed his reply affidavit in a court battle where he asked the North Gauteng High Court to allow him not to take action against Gordhan until the minister’s review application of the process is finalised...
