Gale-force winds, snowfall and rain caused havoc across the country on Thursday, but residents in the coldest town in SA – where -17.6°C was recorded last weekend – are unfazed.
Hannes Aucamp, 51, owns a farm in Buffelsfontein and lives in Molteno. In 2018, 114 of his sheep died in the cold, prompting him to come up with new ways to keep his stock warm.
He opted to not shear his sheep in 2019 and said he had not lost any yet. He also built shelters for them and believes these interventions have paid off...
