For the past 12 years former cash-in-transit security guard Bheki Gumede has claimed he was tortured by Cato Manor police officers after being allegedly unlawfully detained.

Now the Durban High Court has ruled that he has no proof it ever happened, with Judge Jacqueline Henriques dismissing his case and ordering that he pay the costs of the minister of safety and security’s legal team after trying to sue the state for damages.
