It was day two of Jacob Zuma’s testimony at the state capture commission and the former president kicked off the session with sensational claims.

Dapper in a smart suit and blue tie (the day before it had been red) Zuma told deputy chief justice Raymond Zondo that his PA had received an anonymous call the night before by a person who warned the former president would be assassinated. “You must tell Zuma we are going to kill him and his children.”  

Zuma told the commission he knew how it felt to lose a child, and in the wake of this latest threat he now realised what had killed one of his sons in July 2018. He didn’t elaborate, but Vusi Nhlakanipho Zuma, the youngest son of Zuma and his late wife Kate Mantsho, died after a short illness...
