Robin Hood biker cycles for the rich to build for the poor

Bryn Roberts cycled 2,300km to raise much-needed funds to rebuild a creche in KZN


Armed with letters of motivation from his two boys and the hopes and wishes of 34 little children, Bryn Roberts set out on a 2,300km cycle tour across SA to raise R50,000 for the ThandoLabantwana crèche in Hammarsdale, near Pietermaritzburg.

Roberts teamed up with the Robin Hood Foundation, a nonprofit organisation that assists women and children through various outreach programmes to help revive the dilapidated crèche by raising funds through taking part in the Race Across South Africa (Rasa) Freedom Challenge, which saw him race from Pietermaritzburg to Wellington in the Cape. The Robin Hood Foundation had asked people to sponsor Roberts by donating a virtual brick at a cost of R10.

While the final amount is yet to be tallied, he raised close to R40,000 during the challenge...
