First Mugabe, now this: Zim’s treason accused expects the unexpected
The opposition leader is no stranger to the state’s methods – he now faces the ‘new dispensation’
What started off as casual political banter to get loud cheers at a rally could result in a 20-year jail stint for Zimbabwean opposition politician Job Sikhala. But he seems unfazed about it.
The treason charge that could send him to prison for two decades emanates from utterances attributed to him at an MDC Alliance rally in Bikita at the weekend.
He reportedly said: “We are going to take the fight to the doorsteps of [President] Emmerson Mnangagwa, we are going to overthrow him before 2023, that is not a joke.”..
