Climate change will turn us into a nation of hotheads

Environmental factors are seldom recognised as instigators of violence, when research suggests the contrary

Climate change fears are often focused on SA’s biodiversity, but higher temperatures will also fuel violence, experts have warned.

“Countries like SA, which already have high levels of violence and a rapidly warming climate, may be particularly vulnerable to this underappreciated consequence of climate change,” the scientists warn in a SA Medical Journal editorial (http://www.samj.org.za/index.php/samj/article/view/12655/8904).
