The Cape Town 10s multisports tournament may have been praised for bringing e-sports into its repertoire, but its winning cyber-athletes haven’t been paid five months after the fact.

The event – and its organisers – have been called out on social media for failing to pay out prizes. But it appears they might be taking aim at the wrong targets.

The 11-year-old multisport festival has remained a popular fixture on the Cape Town calendar, and last year it was announced that e-sports – competitive PC and console gaming – would be a new attraction at the festival, which took place in February this year...
