SA model’s bags full of ’60s Paris memories go under the hammer

Annette de Villiers’s career flourished in the 1960s, during which she collected bags she received from lovers

Paris in the swinging sixties was a playground for SA model Annette de Villiers, and next week well-heeled fashion fans will get the chance to share her fun.

De Villiers, now in her 70s and retired on the Western Cape coast, is selling the designer handbags she collected in the French capital, most of which come with memories of the lovers who gave them to her.

“I didn’t have an obsession – old boyfriends gave me the bags,” said De Villiers, adding she had decided to sell her Louis Vuitton and Chanel collection because there were “no fancy places to show them off in Onrus”...
