Brainwave gets more rural kids from village to varsity

Help Matriculate Centre's career days have already had some shining successes in rural areas

Lack of finances in her family almost caused 19-year-old  Xholi Rachoene from Limpopo to give up on her dream of going to university.

Fast forward two years later and Rachoene, from Mamphogo Village, is a second-year student at Unisa, studying towards a degree in public relations.

She is one of the beneficiaries of local NGO, Help Matriculate Centre (HMC), founded by 28-year-old Mahlagonolo Phahlamohlaka after she realised the serious challenge with access to career information in rural areas...
