Ramaphosa manages to outmanoeuvre Magashule's bid to take over parliament, with just one concession
ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule’s bid to take over parliament may have failed, but he still succeeded in getting his close allies to chair strategic portfolio committees in the House.
Magashule on Wednesday announced a list of proposed portfolio committee chairpersons that showed compromises had been reached between his faction and supporters of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The matter came to a head last week when Ramaphosa ordered that an ANC parliamentary caucus meeting be cancelled after he was alerted that Magashule had planned a “coup” that would have seen his close allies head committees that scrutinise government performance...
