Two laptops for 1,000 pupils – how’s that for a smart school!

The multimillion-rand ‘smart school’ has no library, no laboratories and no walkways

Gauteng’s brand new multimillion-rand “smart school” that was unveiled with great fanfare in January has only two laptops catering for nearly 1,000 pupils.

This was confirmed by Gauteng education spokesperson Steve Mabona after complaints from both parents and teachers at Centurion Primary School.

Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi opened the R67m school in January, but it still does not have any of the promised computers, laptops, iPads or internet and phone connections. ..
