Every step social justice activist Mark Heywood takes at his final Comrades Marathon will be devoted towards raising funds for the Michael Komape supreme court appeal and other projects of legal advocacy group Section27.

Five-year-old Michael fell into a dilapidated pit toilet and drowned three days into his Grade R year at a school in Limpopo in 2014.

The tragedy prompted the Komape family, defended by Section27, to institute a civil claim against the state for the child’s wrongful and negligent death...
