The A6 E-Tron concept showcases a new platform and the direction for future Audi estate cars
Audi is well versed in the art of the estate car. While we on the southernmost tip of the African continent seem to have a strong aversion to the station wagon genre, the template remains popular in the European market.
It would make sense then for the German carmaker to give the electric treatment to the format. Meet the A6 Avant E-Tron concept. Hopefully the production version will retain the aggressive and extroverted look of the preview — and we think it will — given how other series models like the E-Tron GT turned out.
Instead of taking on the proportions of a frump family-hauler, Audi said the aim was to imbue their wagon with the appeal of a sports car. All well and good, but expect that low roofline and svelte shape to bring trade-offs when it comes to real-world practicality.
