Charlie Kaufman’s adaptation of Canadian novelist Ian Reid’s story about a couple making a trip to meet the parents is a head-scratching, time- and mind-bending, psychologically uncertain and horrifying journey. Nothing is what it seems, everything you know is wrong and people just can’t be trusted in this dark, philosophically challenging and depressingly rewarding hard-thinking piece of postmodern boundary-pushing.
