Five of the many times music was too raunchy for the world
Music and sex have always been caught in a tangle
Much of this week’s pop culture news has been dominated by the release of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s new song WAP. Swathes of the internet are lamenting it as the death of an era when musicians delicately weaved innuendo through their music like they were crafting negligee. Now it is apparently vulgar.
The problem is, that is not true by virtually any measure. Since human beings first discovered they had genitals they have been making filthy music about it. In fact here are just a few examples of the times when raunchy songs hit it big:
