As a lifelong cricket fan, I have spent much time offering patronising advice to those who do not understand the more abstruse terms; googly, for instance, or reverse sweep.
But then, the other day, I was reminded how it feels to be a bewildered novice. On a website called Juked, which carries live streams from various competitive computer games, I found myself watching three 20-something men sitting behind a desk, while animated dragons, centaurs and berserkers materialised in front of them.
