Wear yourself some happy: why donning colour will boost your mood

Picking out something with a flash of colour in it could be the sartorial equivalent of smiling for a moment

“Sweatpants are a sign of defeat,” the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld once said. “You lost control of your life, so you bought some sweatpants.” 

I wonder what Lagerfeld would have made of the amount of loungewear currently being worn around the world? While I thoroughly disagree with his damning of this most useful piece of comfort clothing, I would like to offer another thought: sweatpants could be a sign of defeat, if they come in black or grey.

In times like these, why not choose trousers in forest green and wear them with a sky-blue T-shirt? Why not do burgundy bottoms with a baby-pink top?..
