This is the future of travel ... if only batteries weren’t so damn heavy
Short-haul flights only for the likes of Nasa’s X-plane, which ditches carbon-based fuels such as kerosene
When Emma Kemp, a British charity worker, decided to go on holiday to Italy and Croatia this year, she chose to do so by bus, train and ferry.
“I felt I was really travelling,” despite the arduous journey, she said. “And I felt at peace with myself, having done something for the planet.”
Kemp is just one of thousands of tourists who has been inspired by 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg to shun air travel in a bid to mitigate climate change. But could there be a better solution to avoiding planes altogether?..
