Mutts ado about ‘Dancers Love Dogs’ charity show

Annual multi-genre showcase raises funds for animal welfare groups and vets to sterilise homeless hounds

Don’t come between a ballerina and her pointes, or her dog!

In 2016, American Ballet Theatre in NYC decreed that company members could bring their hounds to work and even take them on tour. The tradition harked back to Baryshnikov’s tenure as artistic director in the 1980s, when it wasn’t uncommon to see four-legged pets on the studio periphery, sprawled across their humans’ togs and tat.

It was in this spirit that Capetonian dance teacher, choreographer and passionate dog lover Brigitte Reeve-Taylor founded the Dancers Love Dogs show at Artscape in Cape Town in 2011...
