Cradle of Creativity shows even babies can enjoy theatre

Even babies have a show created for them at an international youth theatre festival (http://www.assitej2017.org.za/cradle-festival-programme-2019) in Cape Town this week at two theatres and a museum in Langa.

“I was also sceptical, but you see their eyes widen and spines straighten as they engage with it. Some of them sit up or pull up, or crawl for the first time. They do engage,” says Yvette Hardie, president of the International Association for Theatre for Children and Young People (https://assitej.org.za/) (ASSITEJ).

“Babies are exposed to so many random stimuli – cars, passers by – that theatre distills the moment and gives them focus. You see the wonder and curiosity. You even see them touching their moms, as if to say, ‘look!’.”..
