Business leaders constantly preach the importance of failure. “Fail fast, fail hard, improve 100%!” they cry from their cushioned ivory towers. I often wonder if any of them have really tried and failed, hit rock bottom and experienced the vulnerability they so eagerly advise others to feel.

One woman who has tried and failed over and over again – and not by choice – has a different take on “the hustle”. In the second book in her Alone series, From Hustling to Healing, Lebo Pule questions and unravels the business world, the whiteness of corporate SA and her own biases and assumptions. In this exclusive interview, Pule offers her unique perspective on what it means to be a black female entrepreneur in SA.
