If you keep an eye on the cyclical nature of fashion, it might not come as a surprise that the 1970s are once again a point of reference.

At last weekend’s London Fashion Week Men’s, on the catwalk as well as on the front row, a louche feeling that evoked the Boogie Nights era was in evidence. Case in point: the high-waisted flares in vibrant check that saw Richard Biedul emerge as the best-dressed man of the week. 

These nipped-at-the-waistline, flared-at-the-calf trews are the latest drip in a slow trickle effect that’s infused the world of men’s style over the last few years...
