I could swear ‘Deadwood: The Movie’ is coming in May
It’s sure to be one hell of a fight, so be ready
“Welcome the Fuck Back.” That’s the simple, effective and knowing slogan for HBO’s long-awaited and soon to be aired movie of Deadwood, the hugely acclaimed and influential Western series which ran on the cable channel for three seasons from 2004 to 2006.
Written by original series creator David Milch and directed by Daniel Minahan, Deadwood: The Movie will air on HBO on May 31.
The latest trailer for the show reunites many of the original cast members on the eve of the town’s imminent inclusion into the the Union of the US as part of South Dakota in 1889. It pits Ian McShane’s legendary saloon owner Al Swearengen against nefarious US senator George Hearst, a man who Swearengen reminds viewers cannot be trusted and will honour “the rigours of his putrid, fucking nature”.
The town’s honest-fighting sheriff Seth Bullock (Timothy Oliphant) is also there for the final showdown and he’s joined by several old favourites in the final battle for the soul of Deadwood. It’s sure to be one hell of a fight, cocksuckers, so be ready. For now you can watch the trailer below:
