The Chinese Year of the Pig starts on February 5. Designers have jumped on board to celebrate it, giving us some beautiful and not so beautiful fashion pieces to look forward to. Luxury fashion houses from Gucci to Chopard are all celebrating, so go ahead and get your oink on.
Gucci
Gucci have come up with what they call a “naïve” piggy. Images of pigs feature on a number of ready-to-wear pieces, sneakers and accessories. A pair of glasses and three pieces of jewellery were also inspired by the farm animal.
Chopard
Luxury Swiss brand Chopard have unveiled an 18-carat rose gold watch with a golden pig in the centre of the dial, in a variety of colours with trees and stars on a midnight blue background. Only 88 of the LUC XP Urushi Year of the Pig watch have been made.
Louis Vuitton
French brand Louis Vuitton shows off bags, accessories, key chains and scarves, including a pink rhinestone necklace in the shape of a pig and the classic LV monogram bracelet with a cute pig charm, all in gold. The designers kept it playful using adorable cartoon pigs and graphics of the Chinese zodiac, all with the famous Louis Vuitton twist.
Nike
Nike have a limited edition collection sporting all 12 star signs and a form of traditional Chinese patchwork called Bai Jia Yi. The colour palette this year is authentically Chinese, rich in reds, golds and yellows symbolic of Chinese royalty. Moschino
Keeping it fun and quirky, Italian fashion house Moschino sported the famous Porky Pig from the legendary Looney Toons cartoon in all of their designs. Hoodies, jackets, dresses and backpacks all feature the character. In the words of Porky Pig: That’s all folks!
