Now look here, sunny ... you just can’t miss Gen Z yellow

Sunshine is the colour of the moment

It might be time to let go of 2016/17’s trendiest colour –millennial pink – which took over both our homeware and wardrobes. The colour of now is somewhere between a marigold and a shade of French mustard. The new “Gen Z yellow” started making the rounds in 2017, spotted on Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez and Rihanna, who championed zesty shades ranging from saffron to citrine.
Since then the colour has exploded on the entire fashion scene. If celebrities  and streetwear are not enough to convince you, the colour also took over the spring 2018 runway at Balenciaga, whose collection had yellow lightweight knits and plaid skirts; Stella McCartney, who sent models down the runway in asymmetric loose-fitting mustard boiler suits; and Kenzo’s exploration of acid-hued yellows in feathered dresses layered over pinstriped tights.
The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards followed suit with celebrities wearing gowns, ties and blazers in yellow. Is it everyone? We’ll let you be the judge of that – here are all the Gen Z yellow looks from the red carpet:
