Film is a great way to celebrate fashion. It allows us to sit front row, and brings a world that’s almost completely out of reach into our homes. My favourite fashion films, which you can watch on Netflix right now, are listed below. You will feel inspired and entertained as you dive into the intimate lives of fashion’s most celebrated names.
Franca: Chaos and CreationThis wonderfully moving documentary explores the life of  influential fashion magazine editor Franca Sozzani. The Vogue Italia editor-in-chief died in December 2016 after leading the magazine “into a new age of fearless fashion and daring journalism”. Director Francesco Carrozzini presents a powerful portrait of his mother, delving into the 30-year fashion revolution she started after joining the magazine in the late 1980s.  It is an honest and beautifully crafted tale about a formidable woman.House of ZZac Posen was catapulted into fashion fame at the age of 20 after supermodel Naomi Campbell was photographed wearing a pink slip dress he designed.  The quick rise of his label led to a spiralling fall, all in the span of a decade. Directed by Sandy Chronopoulos, the documentary explores how the world of fashion can turn on its own.Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For LizardsCarrie Bradshaw made Manolo Blahnik a household name. His shoes are adored and revered, an expensive staple for fashion lovers. The 2017 documentary explores his early childhood in the Canary Islands to his subsequent rise to fame. The film features guest appearances by Rihanna, Anna Wintour and Naomi Campbell.Jeremy Scott: The People’s DesignerJeremy Scott is famous for his exuberant aesthetic when it comes to fashion and design. Directed by Vlad Yudin, the 2015 biographical gem follows the fashion world’s rebel, known for sending everything down the runway from graffiti to Bart Simpson references. The documentary includes appearances by Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, ASAP Rocky and Rita Ora.IrisThis 2014 documentary gives you an insightful look into the life of New York’s favourite style maven, Iris Apfel. At 96 Iris remains at the top of her game as a great cult figure in the fashion industry. Directed by Albert Maysles, the film provides an intimate peep her fascinating life.
