I got scouted when I was 16 years old by Fanie Nel. That same year I did my first fashion week in Milan.
Who is your modelling idol?
Kate Moss. I feel like we have the same attitude toward the industry. She was always herself no matter what other people told her or wanted her to be.What is your favourite feature about yourself?
I like my eyes because they look a lot like my dad’s and my nose that looks like my mom’s. These features remind me of where I am from.
Which high fashion show has been your favourite?
I really liked Off-White, Paris Fall-Winter 2018.Where do you want to be in the next five years?
If possible I want to be based in Cape Town and work from there. I love my country and the people so much. Hopefully at that stage my high fashion career is where I want it to be and I have a few campaigns in my back pocket.
If you could be the face of a brand, which one would it be?
Calvin Klein. Definitely.
How has your agency FANJAM helped shape you into the successful model you are today?
I’m so glad that they kept on telling me to be myself and to rise above everything else that’s going on. They encouraged me to be strong and to always be the best version of myself.
Which photographer would you love to work with?
Steven Meisel. What is your favourite brand and who is your favourite designer?
Off-White is my favourite brand and the designer of Off-White, Virgil Abloh, is my favourite designer. He is now head designer at Louis Vuitton as well.
How do you cope with criticism?
I don’t know why but it doesn’t get to me. I was raised by strong parents that also don’t let criticism get to them. I’m very grateful for that.
