Want your staff back in the office? Here’s how to go about it
Employees’ concerns are valid, so companies need to be both empathetic and flexible
After the latest resurgence of Covid-19 in the US, large Silicon Valley companies such as Apple announced that they won’t return to the office until 2022. It’s true for many South African companies as well — mine included.
Even post-pandemic many employees expect to continue working from home at least for some of the time. Many new companies entering our market, such as Stitch Money and Wootware, intend to remain fully remote for the indefinite future and are pitching it as a perk to new employees.
This means that to remain competitive, leaders can’t turn a blind eye to remote and hybrid working and instead must come up with strategies to keep teams engaged and productive, while planning a return to the physical workspace...
