Corporates get together to promote hair-care products for SA women. The result of these bright sparks’ brainstorming session? A campaign trashing natural African hair – and to add salt to the wound, the same campaign describes a Caucasian model’s hair “normal”.
The American hair-care product TRESemmé and their creatives’ advert made its way on to pharmacy chain Clicks’s website, sparking countrywide protests affecting nearly 40 stores.
As communications consultancy specialist Mike Sharman pointed out: “That’s at least 20 people who saw [or] signed off that creative [the advert]. Mind blowing!”..
